Artist Statement Harrison Nash The Champs Elements of Ceramics Class of 2022 Welcome to my collection! As a 9th grader this was my first time working with clay like this. I learned many new things thanks to our great teacher Mrs. Sanyour! I learned the different styles of hand building and working with the wheel. I created these pieces to celebrate Virginia basketball with their national championship win! I used orange and dark blue for the colors, which are University of Virginia’s school colors. The texture I used was a smooth glossy texture, which came from the glaze. One bowl has one half blue and the other orange, which I intended. Another bowl has orange dots over the blue color which made it different from the others and created a contrast, like the other bowl with two colors on it. Of course there were some challenges including getting the right color (because I am colorblind). I liked the way the pots turned out and the balance of colors. Go hoos!
